748 Air Services Ltd has established its own Operational Control Center (OCC), which is based at the company’s headquarters in Langata, Nairobi. 748 OCC features the latest in satellite tracking/communication technology and equipment. Here, aviation experts - which include a staff of  highly qualified dispatchers, monitor weather, flight progression, airport conditions and aircraft availability 24/7. All Flights must receive a Flight Release from OCC prior to departure.
748 OCC has access to all pertinent information for each flight. From this location, the Flight Crews are provided with all Aviation Notices, Metrological forecasts and current weather conditions required each flight.
Once all of the information for the flight is gathered it is reviewed with the aircraft Captain and a decision is made as to whether or not a flight should depart. Both OCC and the aircraft Captain must agree before a flight departs. This process adds another level of oversight, which underscores 748 Air Service’s commitment to safety and serves as checks and balances system.
748 OCC is equipped with radios, cell phones and computers with back-up power supply. The Control Centre is able to maintain constant communication with the aircraft and provide support to crew requests enroute. They have the ability to digitally record all applicable information as well as initiate, conduct and terminate a flight or a series of flights manually.
